PWDS Receive Support From Ho West District Assembly

The Ho West District Assembly on Friday 8th May, 2020 distributed items worth 35,785.00 to Seventeen (17) Persons with Disability (PWDs) at the forecourt of the Assembly. Two (2) of the beneficiaries were given money for medial treatment, 3 received bursaries to pay school fees whiles the rest were provided with items and cash into economic ventures to improve their livelihood.

The items included deep freezers, industrial sewing machine, spices grinding machine and accessories for rubber cutting. Speaking at the ceremony to present the items, the DCE Hon Ernest Victor Apau indicated that the government realized that the disability fund which was initially 2 percent was not enough hence the increase of the District Assembly Common Fund (DACF) from 2 to 3 percent in order to reach out to more PWDs and empower them to be economically independent and productive in society.

Hon Apau therefore urged the beneficiaries to use the items judiciously so as not to come back to the Assembly for support. He pledged that the government would continue to support until each one of the PWDs in the district were empowered in one way or the other.
